Good heavens - I'm not sure how I feel about showing up first on such a search. ;-) Still, I do happen to like the meme -- in my case, I enjoy it in part because it's a no-pressure way to help RL friends with their shopping/crafting lists (and I consult theirs in the same vein), and in part because it's fun to indulge in playing elf to a new friend or two, whether it's with a book or a series of ficlets (http://www.livejournal.com/users/bronze_ribbons/6730.html).
