holidaying around

  • I confess that I don't much like "Jingle Bells" most of the time, but I borrowed Bela Fleck and the Flecktones' Jingle All the Way (2008) from the library earlier today, and their version? Oh yeah.

  • This one's for Molly: there's now a French market in Green Hills called Little Gourmand...

    Little Gourmand

Its stock includes assorted mushrooms, including truffles, in various states and styles of preservation. The samples today included a pesto with truffle oil. Me, I'll be going back for mustard and Kusmi tea...

  • At Cheekwood, there were trees designed with various nations in mind. My favorite was the Scotland tree:

There was also a lovely handbell concert, with the ringers from First Baptist performing "In Dulci Jubilo" (aka "Good Christian Men Rejoice"), among other carols. (Here, the director is clowning a bit before they played "Rudolph" and "Frosty.")

  • And there were reindeer, in front of the workshop building and on the Iceland tree:
