where the friends-list meandereth, so meander I...

  1. boston:
Home of the UUA, the Boston Early Music Festival, and numerous friends. Close to Maine (and thus [livejournal.com profile] swooop). Incredible meals at Pigalle and Elephant Walk and Jewel of Newbury...
  2. chicago:
Home of "Wait!Wait!Don't Tell Me!" and the best french horn section I've been privileged to hear. I sang with the Grant Park Symphony Chorus the summer after college and fell deep in love with Leonard Bernstein's "Chichester Psalms."
  3. copyediting:
It funds the kibble for Abby and the Scotch for me. Plus, it's a fine outlet for congenital fussiness.
  4. early music:
Specifically Baroque and Renaissance -- I'm not into chant or much else before Monteverdi, but Rameau, Wilbye, Dowland, Bach -- I wouldn't describe it as better than sex, but some of those songs and operas are ravishing...
  5. handel:
As good as sex, at times. :-)
  6. madrigals:
    Interesting alto parts!
  7. poetry:
    See previous entry.
  8. scotch:
Edradour. Old Pulteney. Talisker. Macallan. Sheep Dip. :-)
  9. unitarian universalism:
Sister Blowtorch of Pragmatism at your service.
  10. university of michigan:
Hail to the victors... (I used to live within walking distance of the stadium. My favorite game was the one I watched with snow coming down the entire time.)

Hear hear! about the alto parts in madrigals.

And Maine, of course, is at your service :-)

Oh, fine, name drop swooop but fail to mention your U-M alum Ann Arbor friend...waah. I think I'll go outside and eat worms.

Oh, so that's why a quarter of the flist isn't speaking to me this morning? :-p And here I was thinking it was the Sorting Hat/Grawp slashlet (http://www.livejournal.com/users/catrinella/28926.html) that did it...

Oh, that's disturbing. Your brain is a strange, strange place...
