poem! yay!

The new issue of Boxcar Poetry Review is up, and it's a good one -- and not only because it includes poems by me ("The Party Dress of Pomegranate Seeds") and my friend Mary... I especially like that the editors asked us to recommend other poets (listed on the master contributors' page).

Lovely! I'm excited for you--published! I'm going to have fun reading this. Mmm, poetry....

Mazal tov!

I really like that poem and the effective way you deploy all the mythological connotations of the pomegranate--Greek, Jewish, and maybe some more I didn't catch--and tie them up with the fairy tale stuff. Very cool.

I think I am way behind on the contemporary poetry front, as I did not recognize any of the poets you contributors recced on the page. Sad! though I think I have read something else by Rachel Mallino.

Thank you!

And FWIW, I didn't recognize most of the names either (although I've now added a couple to my "to read later" list). I fancy some of the other contributors shared my m.o., which was to name poets who aren't as widely known as, say, Billy Collins or Tom Lux or Mary Oliver or Sharon Olds... (to name four whose work I would expect in any general survey of contemporary poetry)
