Four things I am not handling especially graciously or gracefully right now:
(1) raging yeast infection
(2) rampaging guilt gorillas
(3) clutter and disruption of routines resulting from current work on my kitchen and bathroom
(4) imminent deadlines of various stripes
Four things that amused me tonight:
(1) my husband pouting because the Think Geek package was addressed to me, not him (thank you Dichroic!)
(2) Helvetica screening at the library, and the conversations afterwards
(3) a line in my own fic. That's a good feeling...
(4) chatting with the co-owner of my favorite bar about dealing with enemies
Four fics I've recently enjoyed:
(1) sahiya's "A Craving for Kindness." 7500 words. Remus Lupin/James Wilson (House), including references to past Snape/Lupin. As with much of sahiya's work, achingly bittersweet.
(2) busaikko's "Stationery Orbit.' Short. In the author's words, "Cliche-o-rama SGA John/Rodney pencil/eraser hurt/comfort crack!slash." Oh, my sides:
(3) Anon, "Five Times Lupin and Snape Should Not Have Had Sex at Order Headquarters (But Couldn't Help It)." Lupin/Snape, 7146 words, best summary ever.
(4) firefly124, Never Chose This Way. Vorkosigan/Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossover, main pairing Ivan/By. But it's the Ivan and Dawn bonding that makes this a real gem, with exchanges such as:

The Child's initials first thing that morning, and Rodney was still put out about that, when he caught John doing the nine-times-table all wrong.
"Twenty-seven," Rodney shouted. "No, no no no no, that's not thirty-six, that's a thirty-B, which is a bra size, not an answer. Unless you're talking about bras."
"Which I'm not," John said. He sounded annoyed. "Look, whatever happens -- "
"Is something going to happen?" Rodney asked in alarm.
"Breathe, Rodney," John said. Rodney had absolutely no idea why John was suddenly going all Lamaze-trainer on him, until the shadow of The Teacher fell over the desk and Rodney found himself rubbed carelessly hard over the worksheet. The Child dropped him back on the corner after the brutality and tried to hide the hole she'd made in the paper.
"Ow," Rodney said, as woefully as he could, trying to assess the damage. One whole edge was all grey, and one of his corners was rounded.

“Buffy? She’s your ‘stupid sister’?”
“Yeah.” Dawn glared at him. “But I’m the only one allowed to call her that.”
Ivan held up his hands to indicate surrender on that point. “I’ve got a cousin like that. Believe me – I understand.”
“I doubt that,” the girl scoffed. “Even with a couple thousand others like her now, it’s all Buffy, Buffy, Buffy.”
Ivan shrugged. “Well, there’s only one of him, but it’s always Miles, Miles, Miles, too. And dying and coming back didn’t improve him any either.”
