On the second day of Christmas,
pixychelle did indeed post The Two Turtledoves, a sequel to How Severus Snape (Didn't) Kill Nymphadora Tonks. It was a good thing I'd already finished my tea by the time I got to Ellid and Catrinella's comments...

On a completely different note (other than it also involving Snape, Lupin, and Tonks), the
dearsanta story written for me, Four Christmas Eves Where Severus Snape and Remus Lupin Fail to Communicate, and One Where They Succeed, is a marvel -- a carefully calibrated blend of heartache, hope, humor, anguish, and ambiguity. I've reread it several times now -- the first time, I simply had to race straight through, fueled with both eagerness and dread at what might happen next, but in subsequent readings I've been able to take my time, and I find myself admiring the characterizations more and more. Whoever the author is, (s)he's very good at showing rather than telling, and in not showing too much too soon -- Lupin, Snape, and Tonks are complicated adults, and the author has done a masterful job keeping their personalities in-canon while imagining their future interactions. (And, (s)he wrote it for me! *gloats*)
