13/7/08 17:19 (UTC)...and it turns out my bunny's neither Harou nor HP after all. After I wrestled with it some more, I realized its main character isn't actually Katou, nor is the older man he ends up drinking with at the Rudyard Kipling actually Remus Lupin. Which should make this bunny significantly easier to tame (= no canon to reconcile = far less backstory in the way), although it's still going to be a !@#@#! to pull together.
