These both had lines that made me laugh out loud, and they're under 6K:

Then Again, Maybe "I Do"
Author's summary: Remus and Severus are getting married during a major holiday--for very different reasons. (Also, they find out that Hermione Granger is a zealous and alarming wedding planner.)
Rating: PG
Among the things Ribbons enjoyed: Minerva telling Severus, "You sound like every bad prologue to those romances you confiscate from your students."

The Inverse of Hormesis
Author's summary: An improbable meeting in a Muggle bookshop leads Snape and Lupin to re-evaluate one another.
Rating: R
Among the things Ribbons enjoyed: Slow burn, dry narration, droll moments, and exchanges like these:

"What was wrong with my summary?" Lupin said, taking a seat by the fire and indicating that Severus should do the same.

"Everything," Severus replied curtly.

"A bit more specificity would help," Lupin said, with a trace of a smile.

Thanks for the rec! I loved Hormesis. :)

You certainly are getting a lot done these days! I'm glad you've found fun fandoms.

Glad to share the fun, sweetie! :-)

It doesn't feel like a lot, to be honest - the guilt gorillas have been beating me up on me fairly mercilessly, what with everything I still need to do re: mom's stuff/work/holidays/IOUs/etc. But what needs to get done will eventually get done, and sneaking breaks with the guys in Harudaki and the 27th does keep me from going gonzo on the people who have to deal with me in person. *rueful grin*

Mom would've been 65 today. That's got me a bit down as well, but I've been playing Peter Mayer's "Green (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooXBKS73oCk)" a lot, and that's helping. ("True, death may raise its voice today / O, but life will have its say...)

And, last but absolutely not least, I am thinking of you and yours as well, and sending love and strength for whatever-all you need to do. *hugs*

Aw, man. *holds you tight*

I didn't realize your mom was so young. :(

Christmas shopping is kind of weird, and the list has been pared down a bit in the past few years. *sigh* But the other stuff is going well. We cleaned out the basement and garage of her house last month, and the people who made the Good Offer to buy it almost immediately(!), the ones who wanted to be in by Dec 15, have re-signed on to wait until until the end of Feb. By then the easements that I didn't know were on her property (roads that were platted in 1892) can/will be vacated by the township.

I was really expecting them to dump it, frankly, but it seems like everything is go. Maybe they're happy to have a lot half again as big as they were expecting? I came to the conclusion that my dad didn't know the roads were platted there, and had no real idea where his lot lines were. One of the original lot lines goes straight through the middle of the house, but off the west end there's another 90 feet of lot. Jeez.
