the weekend in review
15/5/05 18:39one pint of blood donated
two gold lame tablecloths purchased (for a costume)
four lily-of-the-valley plants pondered (but they're toxic to dogs. . .)
four postcards lettered with frisket and then painted with green watercolor and gold acrylic
half a plateful of deviled eggs fed to the Guild (and the other half to the dog)
two books from the UK ordered
one bottle of Vouvray split with a colleague
one dulcimer festival attended
one picnic on the lawn of Two Rivers Mansion, consisting of BBQ pork sandwiches from the Loveless Cafe and fresh-squeezed lemonade
twenty-odd dulcimers playing "Oh When the Saints Go Marching In" and "Rocky Top"
five of the dulcimers on display stood out to me: one was UT orange with block "T" soundholes; one was glossy blue; one was made out of West Virginia yardsticks; one had been stained and painted to resemble half a watermelon; and one was a "courting dulcimer" (for a couple to play while facing each other, knee-to-knee)
one 1200-word story submitted
fourteen citations for "employee retention" in my in-box
one ice cream van in the distance blaring a circus theme
nine mini-pots of herbs to be planted once I pick up a fresh bag of potting soil
one uppity but gorgeous and affectionate Abby at my feet
