O wonderful, wonderful, and most wonderful wonderful, and yet again wonderful, and after that, out of all hooping!
pixychelle wrote NC-17 (with BDSM!) Giant Squid/Whomping Willow for me! I have been utterly unable to stop grinning like a loon since reading its opening lines:
I've ever so many additional recs and links to post, but dustbunnies just leapfrogged ahead of plotbunnies on the triage list (company Saturday! Eep!), and a fresh influx of real-life deadlines got pencilled onto the calendar just now. I'm not complaining - income good - but it does mean my personal writing has to remain on the back burner for the time being. *looks woefully at quarter-groomed Japanese!Snape plotrabbit* (
_lore and
ymfaery, I will do my darnedest to get at least the first chapter of "Just Like Strangers Here" up within the fortnight.)
And -- I do mean to thank everyone individually as well -- the birthday balloons and wishes and cards, they all helped make it a wonderful day. *hugs all y'all* Health and hardware problems notwithstanding, it was a very pleasant day, and the antipasti we ordered for dinner included eggplant and calamari. :-)

When they got out of this, Severus decided sourly, he was burning every single book that he owned which featured anything non-human in any significant capacity.
Of all the thousands of entries in Hogwarts: A History, he ended up with the Giant Squid.
"Severus, I think we have a very big problem."
It seemed that not only vegetables, but also bad-tempered trees and enormous cephalopods were included in a vast, secret telepathic link. They were all probably plotting their revolution and tyranny at this very moment.
Or maybe it was simply that the Whomping Willow and the Giant Squid had a special connection. Severus couldn't decide which explanation disconcerted him more.
