An enumeration of antidotes to frustration and despair:

  • Baking gingerbread (using the recipe on a postcard [livejournal.com profile] significantowl sent to me).

  • Via [livejournal.com profile] ellid: The president of the Oglala Sioux Tribe intends to establish a Planned Parenthood clinic on Pine Ridge Reservation (located in South Dakota, but over which the state has no jurisdiction).

  • The beauty of frozen flowering trees: shimmering pink branches above the wall of a parking garage.

  • The newest edition of the Velveteen Rabbi's Haggadah is now downloadable. Its illustrators include Howard Cruse, whose Stuck Rubber Baby is regarded as a classic in some of my circles.

  • Receiving unsolicited compliments on my church's Stewardship page from someone I regard as one of my role models (in part because she's difficult to impress). (I'm the communications director of this year's campaign.)

  • Hot sakura (cherry blossom) tea, brewed from a packet given to me by a friend in Japan.

    • Receiving books and a poem in the mail from a good friend

    Thank you!

Glad they got there. I'll be curious as to what you think of the books, as I haven't read them myself (they just looked promising and unlikely to be already-owned-by-you).

*sheepish* It's still on my "to get to" list, to be honest. But I think I just heard some quiet squeeing from certain corners of the f-list... ;-)

I hope it was tasty, and a good antidote! :-)

It turned out quite well! It's not making me smarter, which is what I desperately need at the moment, but I'm hoping my next cup of coffee will address that. ;-)

Thank you for the link to the Haggadah.

Very cool Stewardship page! The compliments are well deserved.
