F.D.A. Dismisses Medical Benefit From Marijuana (New York Times)
Understand: I don't consider pot harmless. I've worked with people who've fried too many brain cells from too many years toking up, and it wasn't pleasant.
But I've also experienced and witnessed firsthand the limits of pain medication. Bottom line, I'm in favor of whatever works, and I trust the NAS far more than the FDA. (Granted, it doesn't take much: I've had trouble taking the FDA seriously ever since Hager's appointment, and Wood's resignation hasn't improved my opinion.) Grrrr, grrrr, GRRRRRR.
On a lighter note:
me: There's going to be a package dropped off for me from [a local university]'s chemistry department. It's some certificates for me to letter.
colleague: You know you're getting old when the "package" from the "Chemistry Department" really is just a bunch of paper.
