PJ O'Rourke, on not finishing Saturday or Deathly Hallows [NYT]:
Interviewer: Disappointing, overrated, just not so good: What book did you feel as if you were supposed to like, and didn’t? Do you remember the last book you put down without finishing?
PJO: Ian McEwan's "Saturday"--I quit just when the plot reached its crisis. I didn't care what happened to any of the characters. (On a related note, I was reading the Harry Potter series to my 10-year-old daughter, and she made me stop in the middle of the last volume. "Too much teenage mush," she said. I said, "Don't you want to know if Lord Voldemort wins?" And she said, "Oh, come on, all those books and you think Harry Potter is going to die at the end?")
And speaking of Wait!Wait!Don't Tell Me regulars...

Peter Sagal! I adore you and this is so embarrassing! No one should ever display this much lack of knowledge about beer in public. (hides)

"Beer comes in lots of flavors, right?" GET OUT OF MY BAR! So much for my dream of going out for drinks with Peter. All is lost.
