Life Force


When Severus regained consciousness, he first batted away the radish his wife had been holding under his nose. Then he let his head fall back to the ground in despair: life had never treated him fairly, but its entrapping Luna into marrying him seemed like an especially cruel prank.

She was gazing at him, however, with neither disdain nor disgust, but a kind of concern that baffled him. He waited, tense, as she matter-of-factly shed her robe and Banished his. Before he had time to react to the sudden chill, she'd stretched out on top of him, pulling the covers over them both.

"This can't be what you dreamed of when you were a girl," Severus croaked out, his hands clutching the sheet beneath them.

"It wasn't," Luna replied, gently undulating against him. "It's much better than I'd hoped."

Severus bitterly said, "Because I couldn't do anything to you out cold?"

"You are being wholly illogical. That was no fun at all." Luna lightly tugged at one of his nipples, her eyes alight as he gasped at the unfamiliar pleasure. A long astonished moan escaped him as she licked around the other, and his hands reached up toward her hips.

Oh, this was lovely! Snape's self-loathing is painful but in character, and it makes that moment of astonished joy all the more satisfying.

I usually don't like reading Snape paired with anyone but Lupin, but for some reason, I've grown fond of the Snuna pairing. Maybe it's because Luna seems like the kind of person who can see through the snarky exterior and appreciate Snape for himself.

And I agree that Snuna has a very appealing dynamic; one of the first Snupin writers I followed (arsenic jade) wrote Snape/Luna as well as Snape/Hermione (and Snape/Lupin/Hermione, and Remus/Kingsley), so I've never shipped Snupin exclusively, although it definitely rates as my Most Preferred Pairing.

I know the recipient is going to love it - unfortunately she's in the hospital at the moment, but we hope they'll let her come home tomorrow, and this will be a nice welcome-home for her!

I tend to pair Luna with Lupin, somehow I can't seem to make it work with Snape, but you did a great job! Both characterizations are right on. Very nice. I wish there was more. :)
