This month's online edition of Scifaikuest includes two pieces of mine, and the August 2005 print edition has three.

My contributor's copy of The Magazine of Speculative Poetry (Spring 2005) also arrived in today's mail, with two of my poems: "Cold Music" and "The Stepsister."

Went to see The Island yesterday with the BYM. The sheer us-ness of our reactions strikes me as rather funny: the plot had more holes than a sieve, but I enjoyed the music; as for him, as soon as the credits started scrolling, he launched into a detailed analysis of all of the various cars and what had(n't) been done to futurize them ...

The past week's ventures in escapism also included lingering over a good deal of Arsenic Jade's fanfic (rec'd via crack_broom), including the Care of Magical Creatures series (Granger/Lupin/Snape), which should interest those of you who were asking about well-written polyfic a while back.

Also, the dialogues in Touch and Go (RL/SS, DM/HP) have a particular balance of elegance, snark, and (non)openness that I personally find compelling, and there are moments in the Body of Knowledge series where I melt at how her characters talk about love with the wisdom of reluctant witnesses and hesitant participants.

Thanks for the recs... I've been reading the works you recommended and am enjoying them immensely. My one quibble is that in CoMC, I find the dialogue a little formal and paragraphic -- but hurrah, crusading Hermione and her werewolf school!
