Dear Subconscious:
For fuck's sake, no more screaming nightmares this year, ok? The BYM needs his sleep and I prefer insomnia.
Cheers,
me
Yesterday was a good day, in spite of managing only three lines of writing. Sang in three services, and Rev. Gail was in excellent form in her storytelling and preaching (on Martin Luther King, Jr., his original reluctance to lead the Montgomery bus boycott, and the deepening of his relationship with God as he coped with 30-40 death threats per day). The guest minister from Corinthian Baptist also spoke at length about reluctant leaders -- King, Naomi, Esther, Gideon, Moses, and Jesus himself, all of whom he depicted as having moments when they shrank back from the tasks God assigned to them.
I also like the changes Rev. Gail's been making, particularly to the benedictions: instead of saying "Go in peace," she's taken to saying, "The service is over; let the service begin." I'm thinking of combining that with "go in peace" for the services I lead at UUCC.
Also made chicken salad sandwiches for lunch and udon for dinner. Took the rest of the mandelbrot to the MLK service reception; next, taiglach (a kind of honey-ginger-pecan cookie).
Writing goals this week:

One of the most beloved hymns among Unitarian Universalists is "Come, Come, Whoever You Are." While our congregations enjoy a hard-earned, well-deserved reputation for welcoming wanderers and worshippers alike, Unitarian Universalists must also grapple with such issues as the myth that "people can believe anything they want as UUs," the tensions that exist between different groups within our denomination, and the challenge of being inclusive without becoming insipid. In this service, we'll examine some of these issues and consider how to reconcile them with our collective spiritual goals.
I do want to get back on track with the 365-drafts-this-year project, but I think it needs to be shelved for the rest of this month (I'll do doubles in February or March, mayhap). I like challenging myself, but actual deadlines come first. :-/
