  • Drive to church was sunny and clear. Drive home was snowy but pretty -- big fat dry flakes, with none of them sticking.

  • Darwin Day! He was born on the same day (in the same year) as Abraham Lincoln. I didn't hear about it in time, but apparently there was a cadre of ministers who decided to preach on science and religion today (as opposed to science vs. religion). Amen to that!

  • For the second month in a row, the local paper gave the service full-announcement treatment. After reading my bio, a man called the congregation wanting to know more about the Dictionary of Unitarian and Universalist Biography (he's compiling some sort of dictionary about natives of Kentucky...).

  • My Lincoln-themed sermon went over well. A woman in the front row was wearing a "Republicans for Voldemort" t-shirt. A man in the back row asked me to consider speaking at their fellowship.

  • Lunch at La Siesta with [livejournal.com profile] joannemerriam. Good chile relleno, great company.

  • Not totally caught up on Guild chores, but crossed a bunch of them off the list. Same with the stack for my home church. And I finally finished pulling together a new submission and updated the marketing ops file and moved the printer downstairs...so I'm not going to beat myself up about not getting any billable work done this weekend or clearing more of the study. Even though my hamster-wheel of a brain is still whirring...

  • Too late to bake raspberry turnovers tonight, but the dough's chilling in the fridge.

Preach, sistah! (Ooo. No pun intended.)

I saw a bumper sticker like that three weeks ago. I laughed out loud.

I'd see the slogan before, but I was beyond tickled that J. wore it to this specific service (and, there's an "awwww" side to it as well -- turns out it was a gift from her brother, with whom things have been tense before precisely because he's conservative and she's not, so the fact he could laugh with her on this is pretty cool).

I have that t-shirt! And I had the bumper sticker on my old car. If you're interested, here's the website: http://www.goats.com/store/tshirts.html It's from this cartoon: http://www.goats.com/archive/030808.html

There are times I'm convinced I have the wickedest flist on LJ. Or the most righteous. Or the most wickedly righteous, or righteously wicked, or something in that vein. ;-)

Are we talking "righteous" like "righteous babe," or "righteous" like "upstanding," or a combination of the two? I suppose could ask the same question about wicked -- is it the NE slang meaning "awesome," or "evil"? Because, really, I think a combination of any of the four might work :)
