So that's what they're calling jill-of-all-trading these days: Penelope Trunk on 'portfolio careers' (Boston Globe).
The intersection of religion and critical thought: Amy Braverman, "Beyond Belief" (University of Chicago Magazine).
miPOradio's current podcast features an assortment of poems fromThe Bedside Guide To NoTell Motel, including mine (iTunes channel here). My track is about halfway through the show; it opens with Jill Essbaum's On Reading Poorly Transcribed Erotica, which is a hoot.

12/3/06 00:43 (UTC)I'm enough into pop that it's hardly a deal-breaker for me (hell, I'll even cop to liking Celine Dion), but the only tune that stood out for me in Beauty was "I Saw A Bird Fly Away" (John Popper's high tenor vocals -- ). Green World, on the other hand, had 5 songs that hit me right, and my desert-island pick of the lot remains Mortal City ("As Cool As I Am" and "Iowa" in particular, and Pierce Pettis played "Family" for me at the first concert of his I attended).

12/3/06 21:34 (UTC)I'm torn between Mortal City and End of the Summer as my desert-island pick. I agree with you on "As Cool As I Am" And "Iowa," but I also totally dig "Are You Out There?" (it's like my mind in a song!!) and "Party Generation."
(Pop = love. You should see my iTunes library.)

16/3/06 15:16 (UTC)Mm, those are on my list. Although the one I replay most often is "It Happens Every Day."
I got up and danced and had a fabulous time in the New England summer sun even though I was all by myself.
That sounds wonderful. I'm often more uninhibited by myself than when with others, as it happens, although I haven't danced outside in *ages* (not counting weddings and church parking-lot parties...). Must remedy that...
