Title: Still Looking Back
Author:
bronze_ribbons
House: Ravenclaw
Date/Challenge: 16 - the abyss will look into you; although I ended up not quoting the prompt directly, it triggered this scene of Lupin and Snape looking at each other. (Which one better represents the abyss, I leave up to you. .. and if I were in a cracktastic mood, you'd be getting a second drabble called "Abyssmal," but I'm not, so consider yourself spared. ;-) )
Character/Pairing: Snape/Lupin (part of a Snape/Lupin/Tonks series)
Genre/Warnings (as applicable): Part 10 of Their Man (links below).
Rating: PG
Words: 150

Severus found Remus kneeling in the garden, silently and methodically thinning out a row of faehodel seedlings. The air was chilly enough that it seemed far too early for such a chore, even though there were other plants sprouting and blooming all around them.
Severus’s injuries from the War precluded unnecessary crouching. He Conjured a bench and sat on it.
Remus continued to pluck slender pink stems out of the ground. When he reached the end of the row, he considered starting on the next – only, it was against a stone wall.
Severus scowled. “Lupin, you sleep with me. Surely you’re no longer afraid of turning your back on me for ten minutes?”
Remus’s voice was low. “I do not like what it would say to you. Having turned my back to you when I shouldn’t have.”
Severus stood up, stalked over to Remus, and stiffly knelt down next to him.
