bronze_ribbons: three daffodiles learning left (daffodils)
[personal profile] bronze_ribbons
Hello! I've seen [personal profile] kass squeeing about this exchange in her journal for years, and I'm looking forward to joining in the fun this time around. I'm "ribbons" on AO3, with a few fics under "mechaieh" as well.

Thank you so much for the goodies! What fun this is going to be. To start, with the only binding part: please avoid incest, underage, vomit/scat/urine/breath-play, and protagonist humiliation.

I'm sorry to say that I'll also be less than enthusiastic about crossovers with the Harry Potter universe (other than the Whomping Willow/Giant Squid, which will endure as my bulletproof OTP) and Tennis RPF (other than Alexander Davidovich Fokina rescuing puppies) -- I have dear friends still in those fandoms, but I'm not on board with where the canon creators have gone. But that still leaves a lot of universe to play around in . . .

As for potential ingredients and directions . . .
[This list veered way out of control while I was compiling it - I do tend to get a bit extra. Please take what you want -- if anything! -- and disregard the rest of the nattering. What doesn't move you will get written, drawn, or spoken some other day. :) ]

My main kinks: competence, kissing until the need to come up for air can't be ignored, restraints (physical or emotional) amplifying sensation/revelation (e.g., people with massive self-control being pushed past their limits).

I'm basic about gear, so honestly, where graphics are concerned, you could simply send me three snapshots or doodles of cuffs or scarves and I'll be full of glee. :)

Or, speaking of art: another OTP is gefilte fish/horseradish. Get me some of that and you'll be (charo)set. :d

I'm also partial to: hidden badass incarnations, hurt/comfort, mouthiness/snark, speaking/stabbing truth to power, punching/resisting fascists, emotions/circumstances overtaking reticence. I lean toward established relationships and futurefic; fluff and slices-of-life delight me.

I'm fine with any rating; it's Purim, so go to town with outrageous hijinks and crossings-over and people/demons/fauna/flora getting LOUD if those bunnies show up. I'm fine with spoilers and there are frankly huge, weird gaps in my consumption of fan, pop, high, and general culture, so if you're dying to cross one of my requests with your solo fave or OTP/3/4/philharmonic, go wild and I'll figure things out. More than anything, I'm here to magnify hilarity. ;)

Fandoms - possible characters and directions:

England Series / Think of England / Will Darling Adventures - KJ Charles: Daniel da Silva is the lead Jewish character, but there's also his extended family. I'm especially curious about his uncles: the one who owns the billiard hall, the "uncle who recites Shakespeare in the better sort of music hall," the uncle who's "a tailor of excellent imitative powers." What are his interactions (as a youth, as an adult . . .) with any or all of these uncles? What's an afternoon like when he and Archie visit them? Are they involved in any future missions? Does Daniel dare take Archie to a Purimspiel? (Do they go as Jack and the Beanstalk/Giant?) What do the da Silvas and other East End residents make of Will Darling when he's in the neighborhood, either as a fugitive or returning customer?

I also get the impression that Laura Hershel and her family are Jewish (she's mentioned as George Yoxall's fiancee in Subtle Blood and has a more prominent role in "How Goes the World?"). She sounds amazing and it would be phenomenal to see more of her in any capacity. (Yoxalls and Mertons at a Purimspiel? Purim at Fen's hospital? Maisie and Daniel's uncle being commissioned to make costumes? So many possibilities!)

Charm of Magpies - KJ Charles: Esther Gold is amazing. Daniel Gold is terrific. I especially love it when they read the riot act to -- well, anyone and everyone -- but they also deserve nice things like footrubs and uninterrupted meals and enjoying a performance in one of the better music halls. Do we get to see what a nurse, nanny, or rabbi thinks of household/surgery shenanigans? Does a particularly lively crate of misloach manot show up from Asia some year?

Band Sinister - KJ Charles: David Martelo and Amanda Frisby Martelo, solo or together. David's history with the Three Birdwits. David and Amanda traveling, or waltzing, or attending synagogue. The entire Murder showing up to a Purimspiel -- I'd totally be happy with descriptions of the costumes they show up in, no plot necessary. David spends a rare moment of leisure with something by or about Samuel of Nehardea? (see under Rabbinic and Talmudic Judaism RPF)

View from Saturday - EL Konigsburg: The Diamondsteins - what's in their future? What's Purim like at Century Village? As adults, what brings the Souls together once more -- what new or ongoing threat do they stand against? Or -- a gentler scenario to contemplate -- do they come together over breaks to serve and/or enjoy tea? Or -- especially if you're inclined toward potential romance -- do Nadia and Ethan get involved in a Purimspiel at B'nai Jeshurun or some other Manhattan synagogue, especially with the theatre skills Ethan has acquired?

Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen: What if Mary marries a Jewish intellectual or musician? What if your favorite characters from another universe (or OFCs) go to a Purimspiel dressed as Elizabeth or Darcy, or Georgiana and Dyfed Brougham (speaking of fave characters from a spinoff universe)? What do we witness or overhear when your fave characters (or their mothers or aunts or their cousins by the dozens) start watching one of the many film/tv adaptations of P&P (or Bridget Jones), or when they attend (or get dragged to) a contemporary Jane Austen ball?

Good Omens (TV), Good Omens - Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett: Two of my favorite perfumes are BPAL's Nanny Ashtoreth (Middle Eastern flowers, amber, honey, blood red-berries, whip leather, and polished paddle wood) and Three Rounds, One Fall, No Submission (frankincense, gardenia, lemon flower, and musk), so one way you could have fun is having your character of choice thwarting officious angels or other would-be authoritarians with frankincense/paddle wood or some other potent combination. ("Nanny Ashtoreth" earned me one of the best compliments ever - I was in an elevator with a handsome businessman who after two floors suddenly burst out with "WHAT are you wearing? It's FANTASTIC.")

Dark Is Rising Sequence - Susan Cooper: There's Jane, of course, but there's also Miss Bell the music teacher, Miss Hatherton (Ellen Drew's jolly art mentor) -- maybe one of the characters looking at a painting of Esther? or Judith? or performing in or reacting to Vivaldi's Juditha Triumphans?

Sherlock Holmes - Arthur Conan Doyle: When I was a member of my local scion society, my investiture name was "no sister of his." You could cook up something in that vein, or show me something new about your existing fave, or make the Giant Rat of Sumatra a mama rodent, or have Irene Adler singing arias from Juditha Triumphans while wearing a fabulous emerald parure . . .

Rabbinic and Talmudic Judaism RPF: Builder's cubits. Debates while standing on one foot. (Midrash meets hot yoga?) Samuel of Nehardea (AKA Samuel bar Abba AKA Mar Samuel) -- physician and astronomer! WHEE!

I'm so looking forward to seeing/hearing what you come up with! Chag sameach!
