My church’s Hogwarts Ball earlier tonight was a crack rarepairs fantasy come true. Couples spotted:
Rubeus Hagrid/Rita Skeeter
Mad-Eye Moody/Molly Weasley
Sybill Trelawney/Severus Snape (our minister and her husband)
There were canonical couples present as well, including Lucius/Narcissa and Nymphadora Tonks/Remus Lupin (our youth coordinator and her wife; it’s reminding me of some Lupin-as-a-lesbian meta I read eons ago, but I’m too tired to go find it again).
… And, I have the awesomest hat. The head of the pagan chapter made it for me, and it has purple trimmings and planet-shaped beads and glow-in-the-dark stars and Saturns.*glee* I’d originally planned to decorate my clothes with stickers as well, and got as far as painting some motifs onto an old pair of tights with a glitter pen, but ended up hitting Target at the last minute for a couple stars-on-wire garlands, which I cut up into three-feet strands with a friend's pocketknife and draped around and from my waist. Later, when dancing, I ended up gathering up the loose strands like a tail because they kept hitting other people.
Also, it turns out to be tricky slow-dancing with a wide-brimmed witch's hat, but the sweet professor and I managed anyway.
(Yes, there were pictures taken, but they were with a film camera, so I don't have 'em yet.)
So, a grand time. Now to shower, rehydrate, and resume writing….
