Post a list of your top five fics favorite you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.
As with everything else, it varies from day to day. Today...
1. Reasons for Defying Reason.
Fandom: Harry Potter (Lupin/Snape, PG). Begun for last year's
lupin_snape's "Lupin's birthday" challenge, and finished for
catrinella's birthday. I'll confess I was wanting a reason to mention this when Lupin's birthday got brought up elsewhere today -- this was not the easiest story to write, and my plans for it mutated considerably between the initial all-nighter and the final revisions, but it definitely wanted to be written (hence the all-nighter), I enjoyed being able to give Luna and Sinistra significant roles, and the reviews were quite flattering.
2. Unspeakable Beauty
Fandom: Angels in America (Harper Pitt, gen). Written partly in order to qualify for Yuletide 2005, but mainly because the bunny bit me while I was traveling in Japan and would not leave me alone. So part of my fondness for this fic is wrapped up with very pleasant memories of typing away while drinking tea and half-listening to the boys (my husband and his best friend) talk, part of it is linked to older memories -- of myself wandering around Grace Cathedral, of the countless book cartons I cut open in the early 90s, etc., and part of it is me having way too much fun sneaking in cameos of crossover characters (in this case, Remus Lupin -- though that's not the name Harper knows him by -- happens to share a flat with descendants of Sherlock Holmes and Peter Wimsey).
3. One is One and All Alone.
Fandom: Dark Is Rising (various, PG).
gramarye1971 is the mod of
darkisrising100. When she first posted challenge 77, she observed that "I've yet to see a drabble that can be done solely through interpretive dance."
Well, as some of you know...
4. I do get told "you're insane" fairly often. This would include the time I sent
catrinella
a drabble written on a squid.
Fandom: Harry Potter (Snape/Lupin, PG)
5. Ten Teas.
Fandom: Harry Potter. Ten Snape/Lupin ficlets, all featuring tea and McGonagall.
This was one of those weird Peg-whimsies: when I saw
xanthophyllippa's wishlist, I was visited with an out-of-the-blue urge to write drabbles about several of the items on it, which naturally mutated into a self-challenge to turn all ten into prompts. Not all of them succeed, but I remain especially pleased by how #8, #9, and #10 turned out, and I wouldn't have written 'em if it hadn't been for X's list.
Tagging: anyone who wants to play, but for the sake of five...
