Karasu drew my Victoire/Teddy. It is absolutely perfect.

Teddy knew that his godfather meant well, but there were times he wished he could somehow explain to Harry that their feelings weren't alike just because they both happened to be orphans. He felt guilty: he was well aware that he'd had a far easier time growing up than Harry, but he also couldn't help resenting the older man for wanting him to be more desperately curious about his parents than he actually was.

He said to Victoire, "Is it so wrong, that I would rather learn more about the living?"

"In fact," Victoire replied, "I love that about you."

[100 words, PG, Victoire/Teddy, character deaths]

In truth, Victoire didn't like her grandmother Molly much. The old witch had been so unapologetically judgmental about so many things over the years, and she was still vociferously horrid about Al and Scorp -- not just to the two boys, but also to all the parents involved (for permitting the "unnatural" relationship to flourish), and to Maman (for siding with them).

Even so, as her grandmother wasted away, Victoire found herself frequently sliding into tears. It helped when Teddy quietly said, "My grandmother did her best, but she never quite forgave me for being conceived. I cried for her anyway."

Teddy enjoyed teaching -- he'd inherited his father's flair for it -- but Valentine's Day, not so much. By the end of the day, his head ached from decapitating chirping carnations and defusing George Weasley's latest trinkets.

He'd exchanged gifts with Victoire before she left for Turin (they'd bought the latest Cursebreaker's Sudoku for each other), so when he reached his quarters, he was startled to find another package waiting for him. After checking it for booby-hexes, he carefully loosened its wrappings.

Photos. Dozens of photos. Photos of his father -- some with his mother, some with the bloke named Sirius his godfather liked talking about.

And also photos of his father with Severus Snape.

Teddy blinked. He'd seen portraits of the late headmaster before, but never ones in which the man was smiling. Much less one in which the man's long, stained fingers gently, tenderly traced a scar on his father's arm --

Wait. Wait. When would Snape or his father ever have permitted someone to glimpse that? Who --?

He turned the snapshot over. The handwriting on the back matched the note from Victoire's mum:

Now you are old enough -- your mother would want me to explain. Tea, chez nous, Saturday.
